Announcing the winners of the RateMyPlacement Awards 2024

The winners of the RateMyPlacement Awards were announced on Wednesday 6th March in a virtual awards ceremony, organised by RateMyPlacement. 500 of the industry’s finest came together to celebrate the outstanding achievements of employers and universities in undergraduate work experience.

6,000 reviews made up this year’s tables and they came with some incredible insights.

RateMyPlacement’s Co-founder, and host, Ollie Sidwell took us through 5 key trends from our reviews.

Trend One: Skills, Skills, Skills. Students love to learn new and develop existing skills. Some of the most mentioned skills include; communication, teamwork, time management and confidence building.

Trend Two: Offering a ‘competitive’ salary. Prospective candidates value transparency. 100% of the students we asked wanted to know the salary before applying.

Trend Three: Be ambitious with social media. social media is popular for all age groups during the job search. 30% of students wanted to see more from employers on social.

Trend Four: Support and guidance. Universities and employers are doing a great job of supporting students - KEEP IT UP!

Trend Five: Students are enjoying their experiences. In what was an already highly rated question with an average rating of 4.6/5 last year, enjoyment has risen this year to 4.7/5.

We then had a panel discussion with our industry experts, Clare Beynon (Enterprise Mobility), Emma Sowden (University of Reading), and placement student Yamin Choudhury (ProspectSoft), where they discussed our key findings and gave valuable advice and insights employers can consider for the 2024/2025 review period.

The Awards

As ever, the Best Student Employers are made up of three separate tables:

• The Best 50 Universities for Work Experience

• The Best 50 Small to Medium-sized Schemes

• The Best 100 Student Employers.

Now in its second year, the Best Universities for Work Experience table 2024-25 has moved up from the Best 25 to the Best 50! This table reveals the universities that excel in the resources and support they provide to students looking for work experience.

The Employer tables showcase the best employers to work for in 2024-25. Both awards were voted for entirely by students who submitted a structured review of their placement, internship or insight experience on RateMyPlacement.co.uk.

All 6,000 reviews submitted in 2023 were categorised into the relevant Best 100, or Best 50 tables based on the scale of student intake and the number of reviews submitted.

Here are the winners of each table:

University winners:

Best University for Work Experience 2024-2025: De Montfort University 

With 48 reviews written by students, they scored 4.71 out of 5 for the support and guidance given to students.

Employer winners:

Best Small to Medium-Sized Scheme 2024-2025: ProspectSoft

With two decades of successful placement schemes, all 12 of their intake gave positive feedback.

Best Student Employer 2024-2025: Enterprise Mobility

Their percentage of intake reviewing is 96% which shows an astonishing representation across their cohort & a wonderful commitment to feedback.
